Blue Crushed

23 Aug

I wrote the Kate Bosworth cover story for the September issue of C magazine. When I interviewed her in July, she was very cagey about her relationship with Alexander Skarsgard, my favorite “True Blood” vampire. In my story, I called him her “on again off again” boyfriend because I had heard a rumor from an entertainment industry source that they had broken up (They have broken up and gotten back together a lot over two years). Now it seems they are really done. Who knows. Like most actresses, she was very pretty and tiny and nice. I’m also featured on the contributor’s page wearing the black and white Alice Temperly caftan I wrote the day after my wedding. I have to come up with some more occasions to wear it because I love it.

I’m back in LA and I just got word that “Girls” is going to debut on HBO in March. My cameo as a New York magazine editor is in Episode 9–if it doesn’t get cut. It’s a long time to wait but my biased opinion is that it will definitely be worth it.

Summer Break

29 Jul

At Grey Gardens

I’ve been having a great summer vacation on the East End. Highlights include visiting my friends who rent Grey Gardens in East Hampton, hanging out in Montauk with my favorite people, surfing, working out with Tracy Anderson at her new Water Mill studio, swimming in Gardiner’s Bay, clamming, visiting Jackson Pollock’s house, drinking a lot of rose and eating lobster for at least one meal a day.

Glossy Wedding

I wrote up my Feb. 26 wedding in Palm Springs for C magazine’s wedding issue that just came out.

Chris Abbott, Lena Dunham and me on set

Today I shot a cameo for an episode of “Girls.” I was playing a New York magazine editor at a book party at the Jane Hotel for a novelist played by the hilarious and sweet Jenny Slate. It was a blast! The show is slated to air early 2012 on HBO. It’s all very exciting.

It’s summer and I’ve got some time off at last. I’m going to do some traveling back east to visit the NYC set of “Girls,” and I’ll be spending some time in my beloved Montauk. I’m also going to hang out with my husband in Northern California for some long weekends. We’re thinking Napa, Sonoma, Calistoga, Bolinas, Tahoe, SF…We’ve also got some weddings and we’re planning our honeymoon to the Aeolian Islands off the coast of Sicily. Life is good.

BYE NYC, HI LA

1 May

I’m back in L.A. after a very fun 2 months in NYC working on the Lena Dunham’s new HBO series “Girls.” The show is slated to air early next year. Here’s a picture of me on set last week, wearing one of my friend Julia Chaplin’s new Gypset Galactic Weekender dresses. (The concept is you’re supposed to be able to wear them for 36 hours straight, like to the beach, a party, bed, etc.) I’m standing in front of a glittery Panda painting by artist Rob Pruitt, which is on display at the art gallery where one of the characters works. I feel very lucky to have had the opportunity to work with the wonderful, smart, funny, sweet, amazing, i could keep going with adjectives here but you get the idea, “Girls” team. Now I’m going to hang out with my new husband and make some wedding weekend photo albums.

Party Circuit

15 Apr

This week I reemerged into the NYC benefit circuit. On Monday, I went to the Art Production Fund birthday party and on Tuesday I went to a benefit for Marfa. My friend Jen just emailed me this WWD story that has half of my picture, with my friend, fashion designer Cynthia Rowley in the elevator. Seems to display my insider/outsider status.

Mormon Tweeting

10 Apr

Last night I went to see the new Broadway musical “The Book of Mormon.” I loved it! I usually get a little bored and annoyed during musicals–I hated “Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson,” which I saw around Christmas. But this was hilarious and fresh the entire time. I think it was the best musical I’ve ever seen. William H. Macy and John Waters were also in the audience, which was cool. Oh, and I’ve decided I was wrong about Twitter. It’s not just for self promoters and single people. Follow me @dschoonthego because now I’m obsessed with gaining followers. Just like the Mormons! And you thought this post wasn’t cohesive…
